Boundary value problems arise in several branches of physics as any physical differential equation will have them. Human boundaries our often caused by the restraints of spoken language and culture. Example: The four-minute mile is the act of completing the mile run in less than four minutes. It was first achieved in 1954 by Roger Bannister in 3:59.4. The ‘four minute barrier’ has since been broken by more than 20 000 athletes. We always have to challenge our boundary conditions.
